THOUGHTS FROM YOUR INTERIM PASTOR

When first approached about being considered for the position of interim pastor I was a bit unsure how to respond.  Now retired for two years from a pastorate where I served some twenty-three years, I have been fairly content to simply provide pulpit supply from time to time with congregations around our area. In addition, I had some other commitments which would have prevented my giving needed attention to a congregation on a regular basis.  After spending two weeks with you, getting a bit acquainted with you and spending time in prayer, I felt very comfortable in accepting the invitation to be with you during this interim period.  Because of some prior commitments, I will not be able to start on a regular basis until the fourth Sunday in October, though I will be present for many of the Wednesday evenings and weekday responsibilities during the month of October.

During the past few weeks I have been praying for the well-being of Victory Baptist Church.  I do covet your prayers in return.  My hope is we can have a fruitful journey together.  One member already shared with me his hope we could minister to one another during this interim period.  Those were inspiring words.  Ministry is not a one-way street.  We are to minister to one another.  Where will our journey take us?  The only answer I can give is my belief if we are the body of Christians we are called to be then we will be blessed in the process.  Our continual prayer should be “thy will be done.”  Let us allow God to be our guide.

I look forward to sharing this journey with you.

STUDENT MINISTRY (grades 6-12)

Fall Retreat
The students at Victory are excited about all the great things that have been happening since the beginning of the school semester. One of the events we are really excited about is this year's Fall Retreat. The students are leaving the church at 5:00pm on Friday, Oct 23 and staying overnight at Potter's Ranch, making smores, having fun, and to top it all off, working our way through a 9 acre corn maze. There are still space available for students to go on the Fall Retreat, but spots are limited. If any students, grades 6-12, are looking for a way to get connected with the student ministry, this is the perfect opportunity.
