FROM YOUR INTERIM PASTOR

Though I will be in Lexington when you receive this newsletter I am writing it from my daughter’s apartment in Modesto, California.  Beverly and I have spent the past week here and will be leaving tomorrow and will be with the congregation at Victory on October 25.  I have missed sharing with the congregation the past three Sundays because of commitments made before accepting the invitation to be your interim pastor.  Hopefully, I can now give the attention to the ministry of the congregation which is required.

During the period I am with you I want you to feel free to contact me with your concerns and needs.  At first I will be in the office on Tuesdays but can and will be there when other needs arise.  On one of my first Sundays with you I did say I could not read minds.  So if you have need of my time you will have to let me know.  And please do not think it will be “putting me out.”  It is called ministry and it has been my calling for many years.  I may not have all the answers but I am willing to walk with you on your journey.  Just ask.

I have most impressed with the friendliness and talent found in the Victory congregation.  You have something wonderful to share with others.  And my prayer is we share with so many who desperately need what you have discovered.

I look forward to sharing worship with you this week.

FLiP KIDS (K-5th Grade)

Variety Show
Got talent? or just like to have fun? We want to encourage as many of our FLiP kids as possible to come be a part of the annual Variety show. See details above.

It's Christmas Time
The FLiP kids will be blessing us with songs during the Victory Family Christmas celebration on Sunday, Dec. 13. They will be singing two beautiful Christmas songs, one with the adult choir! They will also share a short responsive reading from scripture. Tim will be rehearsing with them each Sunday morning during their Life Group hour, and for a few minutes each Wednesday night.

Christmas Missions Opportunity
The Victory FLiP kids will be participating in the Elkhorn Baptist Association's Toy Project this year! We will be collecting items for health kits during November.  We need:  tooth brushes, tooth paste, soap, shampoo, band aids, combs & brushes.  Please help your child remember to bring their items and place them in the bin located in the front lobby.  They will be putting those items together on Wednesday night, December 9th and we will help distribute them on Saturday December 12th at the annual toy store.  We are excited about this opportunity for our children to serve!  For more information please contact Joyce!

MEN'S MINISTRY

Turkey Bowl
Saturday, November 7th from 10-Noon is the Turkey Bowl (flag football game and turkey lunch) held at Lexington Christian Academy.  This is open to men of all ages.  We will need a few people to donate turkeys to be deep fried for our Victory Feast.  Let Keith Galloway (576-9630 kgalloway@lexingtonchristian.org) or Bryan Watts know if you can donate a turkey.

STUDENT MINISTRY (grades 6-12)

Had A Great "TIME" At Camp
The students had a lot of fun at Potter's Ranch last month learning about love as we went through the "Live Love" study. Students left the church at 5:00 pm Friday and by the time they returned at 9:00 pm on Saturday night, they had experienced a bonfire, s'mores, crazy games, a corn maze in the dark, and most of all the Love of Christ. A special thanks to all the parents and leaders that helped make this event possible.

Wednesday Nights
Wednesday is always a lot of fun at Victory, especially for the students that are a part of the student ministry. Every Wednesday, the students come together to worship through music with the student band and experience "church" in a new and exciting way. If you have a student, grade 6-12, or if you're a student yourself, feel free to come and join the youth group each Wednesday night at 6:33 upstairs in the multi-purpose room.

Blog!
Parents don't forget to check out Patrick's Blog at www.athleticfaith.wordpress.com for event calendar and recent thoughts. Parent resources soon to come!
