PONDER ANEW

Anticipation
Do you remember that feeling of the last few days of school each year?

The rhythms are different over the past couple of weeks. Everybody can feel it, students and teachers alike.  Most of the main teaching has been competed and now it’s just mopping up. Maybe you’re playing games with the materials you’ve learned all year—or just playing games. There’s a lighter feel to everything, everybody’s more laid back.  You might have a tingling in your tummy and giggles break to the surface like dolphins in the sea.. Why?  Summer’s coming!  And you know what that means….

  • sleeping luxuriously late
  • swimming
  • morning coffee on the porch
  • the sizzle of a grill: burgers, hot dogs, chicken
  • sunscreen and bug spray
  • long days
  • playing with the hose while giving the dog a bath
  • baseball…softball…golf…ultimate Frisbee
  • lemonade
  • chasing fireflies (if you’re in the country)
  • trips to the beach or the mountains or grandma’s house ...and more!!

As we get older, we never really get over the anticipation of summer, do we?  The things we look forward to may change.  We may get a little jaded to the joy of it, but still, it’s a whole season with a different rhythm to life.

The same thing is true of our faith family over the summer.  The rhythms are a bit different, but we’ll still be doing our best to “lead all people to know and treasure Jesus above all things.”  We never take a vacation from our mission, but we may do a few things differently as we walk through the summer. That’s why we’re urging you to ‘Take the Plunge” with us this summer and join us all summer long as we follow Jesus together. (Grab one of the ‘take the Plunge” brochures in Victory Central for more details)

What can we anticipate this summer at Victory?  You know, another way to describe anticipation would be “faith” or trusting God. And since what we faith God for we often ask God for, these are some great things to pray for…

  • people coming to trust Jesus as Lord and Savior
  • some following the Lord in believer’s baptism
  • deeper connections between members of the Victory family
  • stronger relationships with people outside the faith
  • our mission being lived out on ball-fields, with neighbors and more
  • faithful participation in worship and Life Groups
  • laughter of the redeemed marking our gatherings
  • steps to an even greater Kingdom impact
  • prayer becoming more the atmosphere of our life together ...and more!!!

I hope you’ll make a special effort to be really connected with our faith family this summer.  Pray like crazy. Love with abandon. Share Jesus freely. And expect God to do marvelous, wonderful things all summer long!

Taking the Plunge with you,
Pastor David
