FROM YOUR INTERIM PASTOR Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. Perhaps the reason was it is a time when families traditionally gather. Of course there is the matter of lots of food, but I think it was the gathering of family that mattered the most. In recent years the gathering has included dear friends who were not "officially" related to me but they are present and it means much to me. Christmas, on the other hand, was not at the top of my list. I enjoyed Christmas but I also felt overwhelmed by the secular aspect of Christmas. Don't interpret my words to think my response to Christmas was or is "humbug!" Among other things these days, I thoroughly enjoy seeing my grandchildren radiate excitement over the prospect of receiving gifts. But when I added the observance of Advent to Christmas I did become more at peace with the holiday. We will observe Advent with candle lightings and Scripture readings at Victory beginning November 28 and continuing through the Sunday before Christmas. And then like last year we will observe the Lord's Supper by candlelight on December 24. In the midst of all the rush and activity it allows us the opportunity to reflect on God's most precious gift to humanity. I hope it provides you with a blessing this year. Terry Freeman |

STUDENT MINISTRY (grades 6-12)
Parent Meeting
Coming together for the greater good of the next generation. On January 9, 6:00 - 9:00pm, student parents will meet upstairs in the youth room. Dinner will be provided, so just bring yourselves! This is a parent and leader meeting so please leave your kids at home. If this presents a difficulty, please contact me and arrangements will be made for childcare or a place for students to hangout at the church during the meeting. Since a meal is being provided for this event, PLEASE RSVP with Patrick via email as soon as possible. I cannot express how important it will be for each and every parent to be at this meeting. The effectiveness of this ministry in helping you minister to your students could very well depend on your attendance. We will be discussing future events, activities and most importantly a new direction in helping students make their relationship with God the top priority in their life.
