We are on mission to lead all people to know and treasure Jesus above all things. All people includes people in our neighborhood and in our city, as well as people among the nations. So, Victory is on a glocal (ie both *global and local) mission to reach, serve, love and lead people to a relationship with Jesus. Our heart is to serve as compassionate missionaries to people wherever we are – across the street, in our classroom or the next cubicle – or on the other side of the world. Our Glocal Missions Team coordinates and serves as a catalyst for a wide variety of missional involvements by VBC members. Many of our Life Groups* have a local mission connection—from serving in a clothing closet to encouraging veterans at the VA hospital and loving on unwed moms through the Florence Crittenden Home. Many of our members – of all ages—help prepare a breakfast once each month for the men at the Hope Center, a local homeless shelter and addiction rehabilitation center. Each May, the church sponsors the Great May-Day Giveaway to show people the generosity of God. we give away clothes, shoes, household goods and more. In 2009, we will expand that to include other service projects in our community. We also partner with Squires Elementary School to help at-risk children in a number of ways. Part of this is the Pack-a-Backpack event which provides supplies for needy children at the beginning of the school year. A number of mission trips each year enable hands-on involvement away from Lexington. We have sent teams to Oneida, KY, Grand Isle, LA and Costa Rica. Victory has a heartbeat for church planting. After a 3 year partnership with Master’s Church in Lexington, we now partner with Mosaic Church, a new church plant in nearby Versailles, KY. But we also have adopted an unreached people group – the Urdu-speaking Muslims of Kolcatta, India—for whom we pray and give. It really is glocal!! The Victory family gives generously each year to our Glocal Impact Missions Offering which supports our Southern Baptist North American and international missionaries, as well as Southern Baptist work in Kentucky.
