David C. Head
Lead Pastor
David is a husband, father, friend, pastor, teacher, theologian, thinker, writer, reader, musician, bicyclist, and avid Kentucky Wildcat fan. But mostly, he is a follower of Jesus Christ who continues to be amazed by the largeness of grace and the power of the gospel he first came to know when he was eight-years-old. His life verse is: ”You have shown me the path of life; in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Ps.16:11) That matches his heart to live his journey with such authenticity, joy and passion that others catch a vision to join the adventure of centering their own lives in Jesus.
David believes that the mission-centered local church is the hope of the world and for over 20 years has served as pastor to congregations in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. He began his ministry with Victory in January, 2007. He has degrees in music and worship from Belmont University, and a Master’s in pastoral ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
A native Kentuckian, David has been married for 26 years to his best friend, Paula. Paula is a trained musician, homemaker, and Bible teacher who loves photography and scrap booking. Their son Drew is a student at Union University in Jackson, TN, majoring in college ministry and theology. The Heads also share their home with Samson the Wonder Dog and a cat named Tickles.

Jamie Murphy
Student & Discipleship Pastor
Jamie joined our pastoral team in October 2005, after serving a church in North Carolina for 6 years in education and outreach ministries. He grew up in Virginia Beach, VA and came to a relationship with Jesus at age 13 at a youth camp.
In his early college years, Jamie sensed a call to vocational ministry. After completing his undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University, he received a Master’s in Christian Education from Southeastern Baptist Seminary and is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational ministry from Southern Seminary in Louisville. Jamie really, really likes school! His passions in ministry are in the areas of teaching and leadership because, “I am convinced that a strong doctrinal and theological foundation is crucial if Christians (youth or adults) are to live godly lives and engage the culture with the gospel of Christ.”
Jamie’s life verse is Nehemiah 9:33: “In all that has happened to us, you have been just; You have acted faithfully, while we did wrong”. He says, “The longer I live, the more I understand that on my best days, I stumble through life, yet God is faithful, always…in displaying His glory and grace, and to His children.”
For a dozen years, Jamie has been married to Pam, who home schools their three children.

Tim Stokes
Worship Pastor
Tim joined our staff team in February, 2008 and is our token staff Yankee! He grew up in the frigid north of Minnesota, though to be accurate, it was southern Minnesota, in the Minneapolis/St.Paul metro area, so he was already tipping this way! Tim is the oldest of ten children, and along with his other siblings, was homeschooled for most of his childhood education. He came to the Lord at age 6 one evening after family devotions.
Tim had an early interest in and passion for worship. While completing a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Minnesota, he led worship as a volunteer at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Tim then moved into a part-time worship position at Faith Baptist Church in Minneapolis from 2001-2008. At the same time, he also owned & operated a computer networking business.
After a season of wrestling with the Lord, he sensed the Lord was calling him to pursue worship ministry as a vocation. His heart for worship ministry is rooted in his conviction that “We were made to be worshippers for eternity, to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. The goal of my life is to do all I can to encourage others in this pursuit.”
That matches his life verses from Psalm 16 – the whole psalm!
Tim is married to Debra and they have 4 children—Rachel, Ruth, Joseph & Rebekah.

Joyce Watts
Preschool Ministry Director
Joyce came to know Jesus as a young teenager at a special event at a friend’s church. At the age of 19, she became aware of her calling to work with children when she became a “Big Sister” in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America program. Prior to her work here, Joyce pursued her passion for children and families by working as a weekday preschool teacher and through serving in Sunday School and other local church ministries. Along that journey, she learned the power of her life verse: “I can do everything through Him who give me strength” (Phil.4:13)
Joyce loves babies and preschoolers-- and their families. Her eyes just light up and twinkle when she gets around them. She believes that “regardless of age, all children can begin to learn about God’s love…As we partner with parents, we can begin to build a strong spiritual foundation that will lead to a lifelong, passionate relationship with Jesus Christ….through the power of the Holy Spirit, age-appropriate curriculum and loving teachers, we want each preschool child and family to know and love Jesus more!”
Joyce, a lifelong resident of Lexington, is married to Bryan. They have two sons (Bryan, Jr. and Michael) and a daughter, Brittany.

Debbie Jaggers
Children's Ministry Director
Debbie officially joined our staff in 2005 after having been a charter member of Victory and working with children like she was on staff for a dozen years or more.
She grew up in Elizabethtown, Kentucky—the daughter of a pharmacist and a working mom and with two sisters, one of whom is her identical twin. On an Easter Sunday at Severens Valley Baptist when she was 9 or 10 years old, Debbie began a relationship with Jesus and remembers the conviction of the Holy Spirit and joy of that salvation until today. Her life verse flows from that commitment: “I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him for that day.” (2 Tim. 1:12)
Debbie graduated from nursing school and is a registered nurse. She worked in a pediatric unit and pediatric ICU at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington before her children were born. That love for children spilled over as she taught children’s Sunday School, organized VBS and children’s choir One night, while visiting a prospective family, Debbie sensed the Lord ask her to work specifically for the children of Victory. She clearly heard the Lord say, “I want you to take care of the children.”—and she has been doing so ever since.
In her ministry with children in grades 1-5, Debbie longs to provide quality Bible teaching for each child at their level and lay a strong foundation for growth ; partner with parents in the raising & leading their children to Jesus and provide them the resources they need; provide opportunities for children to use their gifts to serve God; make church a place where each child is excited to come, and set a pattern in their spiritual life so they will become great men and women of God.
Debbie is married to Dell. They have two children: Julie is a registered nurse and Tommy is a student at Western Kentucky University. The Jaggers’ have three beagles – Bo, Sam and Drew- and a cat named Callie.
